Arts On Main Artists' Coalition (AOMAC) is for the visual and fine arts. As an artist-run group, we provide opportunities for artists of all skill levels to learn something new and connect to resources and the community through exhibitions, classes, workshops, and professional development. Our goal is to provide artists with a supportive and inspiring environment where they can create and showcase their work and enhance their artistic skills.

AOMAC Events

  • Open Paint Sessions

    This is an open studio paint session for any medium beginners to advanced. Please come, bring a lunch and your own project to work from and specialized supplies. The art center has paints and brushes. We provide good conversation and moral support, and only critique if you want.

  • Open Life Drawing Sessions

    This event allows attendees to draw from a live model in various mediums, with the model provided in person, as well as appropriate lighting, seating and easels. Gesture drawings will begin the session, leading into more extended poses for more elaborate works. Bring your drawing materials.

  • Portrait Painting with Daniel Walters

    This class is designed for artists of all levels to explore the dynamic and expressive potential of portrait painting. From beginners to experienced painters looking to deepen their skills, instructor Daniel Walters offers a comprehensive journey through capturing emotion, character, and likeness with vibrant acrylic paint as your medium. Learn how to create a structural foundation and how to easily manage anatomy by breaking down forms into simple geometric shapes, all while each participant creates the same portrait, fostering a unified learning experience.

  • An Evening with Charles Peer

    AOM is thrilled to invite you to a special evening with Charles Peer, right in the heart of his hometown!

    Join us in the galleries for an intimate evening with award-winning and renown artist Charles Peer. You’ll be amazed as Peer demonstrates creating a pastel painting from start to finish. You’ll pick up on his techniques for pastel painting as he shares his insights into the medium. The event will culminate in a Q&A session – a truly unique opportunity to engage with the artist and the community. A selection of Peer’s artwork will be available for purchase. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.

  • Pastel Painting with WOW! Building Strong Pastel Paintings

    Saturday & Sunday, August 17 & 18
    9:00 am - 4:00 pm each day (includes a 1 hour lunch break)

    This two-day advanced workshop with Charles Peer will focus on how to plan and execute a strong pastel painting by developing interesting ideas, compositions, painting techniques, and color choices. The goal is not to complete a couple of masterpieces during the workshop, but rather to learn a variety of tools and painting approaches to incorporate into your own personal style. Each day includes intermittent illustrated discussions, demos, guided practice exercises, and individual painting time with assistance from Charles along with group critiques. Please review the student supply list for items you will be expected to bring to class. This is an intermediate level course, experience highly recommended.

Art Connections

AOMAC members, as well as friends and the public, are welcome to join us for our monthly Art Connections. Art Connections provides an excellent way to share knowledge through classes, lectures, and demonstrations. Refreshments and networking are integral elements of the program.

Main Events

Offered quarterly, attend our Main Event, presented by professionals and teaching artists, and gain insights into the latest trends in their respective industries, learn about new technologies and tools, and connect with other professionals. These events are offered at a discounted rate to AOMAC members.
